Charge your Camera using Power over Ethernet (PoE)
With the available USB connector and charging cables supplied with the Deep Sentinel USB Extreme + Temperature Battery, customers have the option to keep their Cameras charged using Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Many homes and business properties are pre-wired with Ethernet cabling and with some, it is routed to outdoor Camera positions. Setup is fast and eliminates the need for a nearby power outlet or to add another accessory such as a Solar Charger.
Add a PoE enabled switch or PoE injector to pass electric power along the Ethernet cable. At the Camera position where the Ethernet cable terminates, connect a PoE splitter. Use the female USB adapter to connect a charge cable (included with the USB Extreme battery) from the PoE splitter to the USB Extreme Battery.
The Deep Sentinel charge cables are terminated with a custom USB-micro connector to create a weather-sealed connection so use this instead of an unbranded/generic USB cable.
We recommend placing all non-weather sealed connections inside the wall cavity or a weatherproof junction box to limit potential UV or water damage.
Note that no data is exchanged over the ethernet cable. The cable provides power to charge the battery only. The Camera still communicates wirelessly.
Please note, cameras need 5V and 1Amp for power.
