How does Deep Sentinel compare to ADT or other security companies?
We’ve spent years inventing Deep Sentinel as we believe the current home security model is OLD and deeply flawed. It was designed decades ago to solve the problems of the 1980’s--needless to say things have changed. This old model needs to be fixed because it’s “Reactive and not Proactive.”
The New Model:
The new model of home security is pioneered and built by Deep Sentinel. It combines smart cameras with AI and live surveillance guards that do 3 key things:
It identifies potential intruders before they enter your home
It actively deters and intervenes before intruders enter your home by shouting STOP before a crime has occurred
It removes false alarms when alerting homeowners and law enforcement
The new model is fast, intelligent, and proactive. How does the NEW model of Home Security system work?
Traditional Alarm
The old, traditional model consists of putting sensors on points of entry to your home - on your doors and windows. When sensors are triggered, they wait precious moments before turning on on-site alarm sounds ( to allow the resident to enter their code into an alarm panel ). In addition, these systems can send a signal to a ‘monitoring’ agent, who tries to figure out if it a real or a false alarm and how to respond. Generally, they have to do this with no connection to the home other than calling the owner. So while the technology has evolved to use things like cellular networks and wireless sensors, this 20-year-old model is still the bread-and-butter of companies such as ADT, Vivint, and Simplisafe: reactive, slow, ridden with false alarms.
Consumer Camera
Other companies, like Arlo, Ring, Nest are camera companies. They use cameras linked to a smartphone app to surveil the home. These systems rely on the user/homeowner to view all incidents to determine if intervention or police are required. In addition to not being able to handle all of these alerts, many users report an increase in anxiety and frustration at the unceasing flow of notifications generated by these cameras. In our surveys, we found that most people turn these notifications off within weeks leaving their homes and families wholly unprotected. We believe technology should relieve your stress, certainly not create more.
In addition, the OLD model has major flaws since a delay in a reaction is built into every permutation:
The sensors wait until the intruder is already inside your home--when it is already too late to shout them away from the property
After the sensors trigger, there is a 1-3 minute delay before any agent is notified (allowing the homeowner time to enter their passcode or cancel an alarm)
99% of the alarms are false - and police dispatch is well aware of this (you can read more about our studies on this Deep Sentinel Dispels Myth That Police Respond to All Home Alarm Calls
At best, it takes 5 to 10 minutes for the Monitoring Agents to determine if it is a real or false alarm that was triggered. Many take much longer
So in cases where there is a real break-in, if the intruder is not deterred by an alarm, the criminal is in and out of the house BEFORE the time it takes to figure out if it is a real or false event (typical home burglary is complete within 5 minutes).
This OLD model of home security is an elaborate way of detecting a crime that has already taken place, and documenting it. While there is a degree of deterrence by simply noting a system is in place and sometimes via the audible siren/alarm; professional burglars are aware of the delay in police intervention (average 8 minutes between a trigger and a real response). NET, the OLD model of home security rarely prevents crime, it only documents it.
This is why we strongly suggest you invest in the NEW model of Home Security, Deep Sentinel.
