Tiered Billing FAQ

Everything you need to know about usage-based tiered billing

What is the pricing for each tier and what is included?

Why is Deep Sentinel making this change?
Our updated billing approach allows us to continue offering robust coverage without impacting quality. Tiered billing helps address situations that can divert guard attention from real threats and drive up costs, like cameras aimed at public spaces or unadjusted business hours. Meanwhile, we’re continuously enhancing our AI to reduce unnecessary alerts—recent improvements have cut false alerts by nearly 40%, ensuring precise and efficient monitoring for you.

When will the new tiered billing start?

Starting in  January, we’ll implement tiered billing based on monthly usage. All customers will receive their standard Tier 1 base invoice on the first of the month as usual. If usage falls into Tiers 2 or 3, an additional invoice for overages will follow shortly after. Most customers will remain in Tier 1 and won’t see any extra charges.

Will this be part of my monthly bill?

All customers will receive their standard Tier 1 base invoice on the first of each month as usual. If usage falls into Tiers 2 or 3, an additional invoice for overages will follow shortly after.

This delay allows you to review your monthly usage and flag any issues (like excessive non-human escalations) that could impact your billing. If this happens, please reach out to the Customer Care team. We can flag this as an outlier to our engineering team for further AI training.

How can I check my usage?
To help you stay informed, we’ve added a usage tracker in the Deep Sentinel App. You can find it at Settings > Account > Usage

Is there anything I can do to reduce my Escalated Events?

Absolutely! There are several ways you can reduce your escalated events

  • Start Small: When setting up your Protection Zone, begin with a focused area within your property, then expand as needed.
  • Exclude Public Areas: Avoid pointing your camera toward streets or sidewalks, which may lead to unneeded alerts.
  • Clear Obstructions: Keep items like plants, branches, and flags out of the Protection Zone to reduce false alarms. You should also be extra careful about lights and decorations around the holidays.
  • Set business hours and privacy schedules so that your property is being monitored only when needed.

Shouldn't Deep Sentinel's AI filter out unnecessary escalations?

Our AI is effective at filtering out non-human movement and is continually evolving. In fact, recent advancements, like Smart Snooze (a personalized noise reduction engine) and Second Opinion (an adversarial AI built with our proprietary data set), have reduced false alerts by nearly 40%, ensuring even more accurate monitoring.

That said,  proper setup is key to optimal performance. That’s why it’s necessary to set business hours and use best practices for camera placement.

Please know that these changes are intended to enhance our service capabilities and maintain competitive costs, not to add unnecessary charges for standard use cases.

If you're unsure why you’re experiencing high escalations, our Customer Care team is here to help. We’ll be happy to work with you to make sure that your settings are optimized for success.

Will this apply to my current contract?
If you’re on an annual contract, the new tiered billing won’t take effect until your term renews. For customers on month-to-month contracts, this change will begin as described above.
