Why Are Some Events Low Resolution Or Missing Previews?
Learn why some Deep Sentinel events are low resolution or missing previews, how hub storage works, and what red vs. white camera names mean for your footage.
To maximize hub storage for the most important footage, Deep Sentinel stores non-escalated events in lower resolution without previews, while escalated events are stored in higher resolution with previews when available.
Why this happens
In May 2024, Deep Sentinel updated hub storage to save space, especially on Mini Hubs with limited capacity. Now:
-
Non-escalated events (not flagged by AI for guard review) are stored in lower resolution (720x576) using the camera’s secondary stream.
-
Escalated events (flagged by AI for review by guards) are stored in high resolution (up to 2K/4K) and typically include previews.
This ensures your system can store many more motion events while prioritizing higher-quality storage for events that matter most.
What the camera color means
-
Red camera names = video pulled from your hub’s local storage (typically non-escalated, low-resolution events).
-
White or black camera names = video pulled from the cloud (typically escalated, high-resolution events).
The color indicates where the video is stored, not whether the event was escalated or verified.
Event types to understand
Your system categorizes events in three main ways:
-
Escalated + Verified: AI flagged, guard reviewed and verified.
-
Escalated + Non-Verified: AI flagged, but not guard reviewed (e.g. escalated during business hours).
-
Non-Escalated + Non-Verified: AI did not flag for review
Key Takeaways
-
Lower resolution and missing previews are normal for non-escalated events.
-
Escalated events are prioritized for high resolution and previews.
-
Red vs. white camera text indicates the storage location (hub vs. cloud), not escalation status.
