What is Privacy Mode?

When Privacy Mode is turned on, either manually or via a schedule, it sends a command to your camera that tells it to stop motion recording altogether. The camera won’t detect motion, won’t save footage, and won’t respond to activity in its view. It’s like putting your camera on pause.

How Does AI Deterrent Work?

The AI Deterrent is a feature designed to play a loud warning sound through your camera’s speakers when someone is detected. Here’s how it works:

1. The camera first needs to detect motion.

2. The hub’s AI analyzes the motion and determines if there’s a person in the camera’s frame.

3. If a person is detected, the hub sends a signal to the camera to play the AI Deterrent audio.

What Happens When Privacy Mode is On?

Since Privacy Mode stops the camera from detecting any motion, the entire process that triggers the AI Deterrent is disabled. Without motion detection, the AI can’t analyze anything, and the AI Deterrent won’t activate.

Common Issues

If you think AI Deterrent isn’t working as expected while Privacy Mode is on, make sure Privacy Mode is truly enabled. In some cases, Privacy Mode might not have been fully turned on. 

A common fix to privacy mode not working properly is to fully reboot the hub. Do this by removing the power cable for 5-10 seconds then plugging it back in. If you have a DS2 hub, also remove the battery from the charging port.
