How it Works
Overview
The following figure shows an overview of how the DS system works.
Figure 1: DS system overview
Detail
Below is the flow for each escalated event. If the AI step concludes the motion is not a person then the video will not be escalated (meaning it is not routed to the Guards).
Table 1: DS system detail
Deep Sentinel - LiveSentinel Center (LSC)
Once movement is detected by our cameras, a guard at our LiveSentinel Center is assigned to the live video stream in real-time, analyzing all the information to decide whether an intervention is necessary.
Activity will result in either Dismissal, Continue to Observe, Trust But Verify “hello”, or Criminal Intent “stop” escalation protocols. Surveillance guards follow a detailed blueprint to engage and verify either criminal or friend.

Table 2: DS SLA
Product Feature: AI Deterrent
AI Deterrent is an optional feature that customers can enable to issue an automated pre-recorded audio response when threats are detected.
This feature does not replace Guards. The Guards are still monitoring provided there is an active monitoring subscription. When an event feed comes into the Guards they can see if AI Deterrent has been activated.
AI Deterrent can be enabled for individual Cameras. The Customer can select from preset responses on each Camera and adjust the volume to meet needs.
This is a tool for early warning as a person enters a Protection Zone and uses a powerful new AI to send out automated responses.

Product Feature: Business Hours Scheduler
Business Hours Scheduler allows business owners to control escalation/non-escalation of events.
- Set business hours
- Set special hours
Business Hours: During business hours that you set up in the app, Events will not be sent to the Guards. The Cameras will still turn on when motion is detected and you can review them using the app. (unless privacy is also turned on).
Off-Business Hours: When your business is closed, the Deep Sentinel system and Guards monitor and protect. Events (where there is a potential threat) are live-streamed to the Guards for observation and analysis.

Deep Sentinel Vs. Traditional Security
The following figures show the difference between the DS approach and the traditional security approach.

Figure 7: Deep Sentinel Crime Stops (Sample Set)
Deep Sentinel Video Monitoring Services: SLA
Only Deep Sentinel can promise:
- 30s response time to intervene via 2-way voice to burglaries, violent crimes, auto theft/burglary, package theft, vandalism, after-hours trespass
- 30s to send in-app notifications of police activity on your property
- 1-2 minutes notifications after beginning loitering, or “overt suspicious-looking” activities
- We call you and/or the police (as appropriate) within 1 minute of observing any of these crimes
- By informing the police of the crime, the suspects, and the presence of weapons, we consistently receive Priority 1 response from Police around the US
- We provide police “situational awareness” -- exact locations and descriptions of suspects
Only Deep Sentinel LSC Guards:
- Receive rigorous on-the-job training, regular evaluations and ongoing training
- Sign strict confidentiality agreements abiding by the Deep Sentinel Privacy Pledge
- Also provide 2nd-tier services (when available): package notifications
- Can also work with on-site security (Private security, neighborhood/HOA patrol)
Things we don’t do:
- We do not monitor indoor residential, children playing, gatherings, or contractor activity.
- Loitering, package theft, and suspicious activity are not identified in common areas such as parking garages, mail-rooms, and lobbies.
- We won’t get involved in non-violent domestic issues.
Site Survey
Site Survey - Business Property Details
Deep Sentinel Cameras are positioned on the exterior of a property to allow monitoring of entryways, the approaches, and other critical areas. Your feedback on these questions will help our team create a custom system plan.
- First and last name of the primary contact (must be the person who will be the admin for the system).
- Contact phone number of the above.
- Email address of the above.
- Street address where the Deep Sentinel system will be installed
- How many Cameras do you plan to initially install?
- How many square feet is the property where the system will be installed? An approximate number is OK.
- How many stories is the property?
Note:Installer to ask via email/text if the Customer can sketch a simple site/floor plan that shows the ground floor of the property. They should label the positions of the following: main entryways, driveway/parking area and indicate where the internet service (cable modem) is located.
Site Survey (simple sketch with callouts)
Can you help draw a simple sketched site plan of the business property? This, combined with satellite imagery, will help us understand the scope of the project and visualize the best install plan.
Include the following on the drawing:
- Exterior walls (and ideally the interior wall layout).
- All entryways (all the doors into the property).
- Show where you are thinking Cameras should be positioned (we can work together to finalize placements).
- Mark the location(s) of your internet modem / wireless router. If you have “mesh” Wi-Fi such as Eero or Google Wi-Fi show all locations of wireless routers/access points.
Figure 8: Site survey sample sketch
Site Survey - Internet Service
The Deep Sentinel system requires fast Internet service to upload multiple streams of live video to our guards for monitoring. We use your feedback on the below questions to confirm internet and network infrastructure before our techs are onsite.
- Complete an internet speed test. Run the speed test on a computer that is connected by an ethernet cable directly to the modem or router. Do not run the test over Wi-Fi or Cellular.
- What is your download speed (Mbps)?
- What is your upload speed (Mbps)?
- Do you have other devices that connect to your internet and stream video (for example other security cameras or a video doorbell).
- Do you have a mesh Wi-Fi solution (for example Eero, Orbi, Google Wi-Fi, or Velop)?
Getting new customers set up with their system can be broken out into three sections:
- Account creation. This is simply registering the customer admin details (name, email, and phone number). A password must be created, Tech’s can do this then reset and ask the customer admin to create a new one once the install is complete. Home and emergency contact info can also be added.
- Onboarding. This is where the Hub hardware is associated with the account. This step can be done at the office or the install site but the hardware is needed.
- Hardware installation. The Hub, Cameras, and any other accessories are set up in their positions onsite. The system can be calibrated (Protection Zones…) and tested. The customer is walked through.
Account Creation
- From the Deep Sentinel for Business app landing screen, select register.
- Input the customer admin name, business name, email, and phone number.
- Create a temp password that you can use during setup.
- DS software team can help “validate” the email address.
- Log back into the app using customer email and temp password
- Add address and contact info (use customer-provided primary contact name and phone)
- This will get you into the app home screen where there is a prompt to add a Hub.
- This completes the account creation/registration process.
